Event Overview

Format: Continuous head-to-head matches for a set duration (e.g., 90–120 minutes).
Standings: Ranked by wins minus losses at the buzzer.
Location: The Bearded Ax – 1077 E. Montague Ave, North Charleston, SC
Sanctioning: IFPA • All Stern games are Insider Connected.
Software: Match Play Events (Flip Frenzy mode).

Scoring & IFPA Points — Quick Recap

Who wins? The player with the highest net wins (wins − losses) when time expires.
Ties: TD will use posted tie-breakers (common: fewest losses, then most wins; if still tied, a quick playoff game).
Meaningful games (qualifying): IFPA credits the average number of matches played by all players ÷ 2 as meaningful games. (For one-ball Frenzy variants, divide by 3.)
Finals add-on: If playoffs are held after the timer, their meaningful games are added on top of qualifying per the IFPA TGP Guide.
TGP conversion: Each meaningful game contributes 4% TGP, up to the IFPA cap.

What is Flip Frenzy?

It’s a time-boxed, high-tempo format: you’ll play as many head-to-head games as possible before the timer hits zero. The leaderboard is sorted by your net wins (wins minus losses). Top players may advance to playoffs if announced.

How Matches Flow

At start, players are assigned to machines in pairs; any extras begin in the queue.
When a match ends: Player 1 becomes Player 2 on a new game, Player 2 goes to the back of the queue, and the front of the queue becomes the new Player 1 on that game.
Report the result promptly; the software starts the next match automatically.
When the timer expires, no new games start; finish any games in progress and lock standings.

TDs may pause/adjust the timer for technical issues; malfunctions can reassign arenas without losing pace.

Queue Size & Arenas

Rule of thumb: Queue ≈ 20% of players (e.g., 4 in queue for 20 players).

IFPA / TGP Notes

Qualifying credit: Average matches played by all players ÷ 2 (or ÷ 3 for one-ball variant) = meaningful games.
Playoffs: If used, run direct-play finals (e.g., head-to-head or group match play). Their meaningful games are added on top.
Pacing tip (2-hour window): Keep settings modern defaults, fair tilts, and a modest queue so players cycle quickly.

FAQ

How are standings ranked? By wins minus losses; ties can use fewest losses, most wins, or a quick playoff (TD will announce).
Can I join late? If space allows, yes—your first match starts when you reach the front of the queue.
What if a machine breaks? TD may remove/replace the arena; affected players go to the front of queue on a working game.
Do I wait a lot? With the 20% queue target and a balanced arena count, downtime stays short and gives a breather.

Prizes

Depends on pool size but usually its top 25% plus merch or trophies as available. IFPA WPPR points awarded.
